This program will be launched on May 24, 2011

  •  The Foundation in partnership with the TransAlta Tri-Leisure Centre is about to launch a new program "TLC for Everyone"
    • This program in conjunction with various agencies and organizations in the Tri-community region, will provide an opportunity for more economically disadvantaged residents to access recreation facilities at a subsidized rate.

Specifically, the intent of the program is to subsidize access for pre-qualified low income families, adults, seniors, youth and children to the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre (TLC) facilities.

1. TLC for Everyone program will be managed and administered by the Tri-Community Health and Wellness Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable       organization.
2. Regional agencies will act as referring organizations for the program, receiving and vetting program applications prior to submission to the Foundation for final approval.
3. Funds will not be allocated to subsidized or sponsor team or individual sports initiatives.
4. Subsidized facility access is based on income verification, need, and the availability of funds, there is not guarantee that all requests will be accommodated.
5. Those approved for subsidized access will be required to  pay a portion for the facility access fee.
6. Any visits paid for be the Foundation but not used within a six month period will be refunded to the Foundation in order facilitate use of monies by others in need.
7. Each person is on eligible to receive subsidization under this program once per year.
8. The 10 visit pass is on-transferrable. It must be used by the person(s) who has been approve for subsidization.

Portable Ultrasound for WestView Health Centre Emergency Department

The Tri-Community Health and Wellness Foundation have purchased a portable ultrasound system for the Emergency Department of the WestView Health Centre-Stony Plain.  Three years of fund raising efforts through the annual Festival of Trees, topped off by an $8,000 donation from the Stony Plain & District Health Centre Auxiliary, raised the $45,000 needed to purchase the new portable ultrasound.

The portable ultrasound will be used for assessment of blunt trauma injuries, inflammation / enlargement of internal organs and procedures such as chest tube insertion.  This will provide ER physicians an additional tool in emergency clinical assessment.

The ER physicians and staff thank the Foundation and all donors for supporting this purchase.
